Sharing the Bounty
“The highest reward for man’s toil is not what he gets for it, but what he becomes by it.”  John Ruskin

Our gardens were established from others sharing the bounty of their gardens.  In the spring of 2002 we had a perennial exchange.  The announcement read, "Bring as many plants as you want to exchange plus one to donate to the garden program."  We received donations of hundreds of perennials and many people brought seeds as well.  One person brought a quart Zip Loc bag of orange cosmos seeds and another brought a gallon of zinnia seeds.  We had a lot of zinnias and cosmos that year.  They helped to fill in while our perennials became established.

In these links you will find information about some of the many ways we use the vegetables, flowers, plants and fruit from our gardens with our community.  We hope they will inspire you to find special ways to share the bounty of your garden.

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."  Robert Louis Stevenson
