These
students from Kings High School came to
Granny's Garden School to donate some of their time to support our
program. They were juniors
at the time (we never identify students even by first name) when the
came in 2008. They had a great attitude, were hard workers and
great fun to work with.
As part of the volunteer experience at Granny's
Garden School, we want students to take as much with them as they leave
behind both experimentally and literally. The girls spent three hours
pulling out and hauling away spent sunflower stalks and planted about a
hundred iris plants in their place. Then they harvested potatoes,
tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers and picked
bouquets of flowers to share with their families.
