The gardens along the McDonald's fence are probably
the most visible of all the gardens. It is a large area that actually
extends into the McDonald's parking lot. We promised the owners of
McDonald that if they would not spray along the fence line, we would keep
the weeds pulled. We have taken it a step further and allowed the
flowers to expand into the area.
In 2003, as a result of the demand for more gardens,
we started gardening in the twelve foot deep strip of soil along the McDonald's
fence line. The soil was all but dead from years of construction
traffic and neglect. It was so full of rubble it was difficult to
get even a garden fork in the soil. |
