Spring 2002
The herb and perennial garden, in front of the primary school, was the first garden planted.  All of the plants were donated or started from seed by the students.  The children spent two days of  gym class digging in the gardens.
Fall 2002
When the kids returned to school that fall, the
perennial gardens were in full bloom.
Spring 2003
In the spring we added a learning center and an herb garden to the perennial gardens. It was a joint effort of Hilton Garden Inn, The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, David Neff & Granny's Garden School.  The story behind the learning center
By fall the gardens were in full bloom and the learning center a hub of
activity as teachers used it for garden class activities.  It's much more than just a pretty spot.  It's a great lab for studying plants parts/growth, insects, and collecting seeds.
2004
The learning center is a popular spot for teaching, training and (here) cooking.
2005
The archway is one of many entries into the Learning Center area.  This path leads to one of a number of "comfort zones" we have created around the schools.

This comfort zone is used by classes for reading, teachers and lunchroom staff for dining outdoors and by Granny for meetings.  The teak bench, chairs and table were rescued from the roadside on trash day.
2006
This garden area continues to be much used.  Here it is being used by a 4th grade class to learn how to use a leaf identification guide.
