Hill Gardens

“Gardeners, I think, dream bigger dreams than Emperor's.”Mary Cantwell

When we started working in the area, March 2002, we were still trying to do everything by hand. This is the site of our first class gardens. After a couple of weeks we decided to bring in a sod cutter to remove the sod. The owner of the Loveland Tool Rental, located just up the street from the school, generously offered use of a sod cutter as much as we needed.  We removed tons of sod during the next two years before adopting the newspaper method.

This is a great garden sport but it was plagued by deer.  In 2007, it was the site of a number of Eagle Scout projects that included deer fencing, a learning center and a pergola.
