Annual Flowers in Granny's Gardens
An annual is a plant that completes its life cycle, seed to seed, in one growing season.

These are Granny's favorite annuals.  All it takes to grow them is to put them in the soil and keep them watered until the seeds germinate.  Plant the seeds by mid May and they will reward you with a continous supply of flowers for bouquets from Mid summer until frost.  The secret to keeping the flowers blooming is to keep picking them.  Stop picking them and the flowers will go to seed and the plant will die.  I have included seven varieites of basil on this list.  Not only is basil great for cooking, it smells great in bouquets and produces beautiful flowers as well.  The seeds from all of these flowers can be gathered and saved to plant next year.  Some will plant themselves.
