Clove
Currant, Ribes odoratum. It has edible berries in late
summer.
The clove currant (Ribes odoratum) pictured above is one of my favorite
shrubs. It perfumes the late spring garden with its spicy, clove-scented
flowers. It's practically identical to R. aureum yellow flowered currant.
(There's a slight difference in the flower.) This clump-forming shrub produces
arching branches 6 to 8 feet tall with a comparable spread. Good in full
sun to partial shade. Produces black fruit in late summer. Hardy to USDA
zone 3. |
