This is a
collaborative effort of: |
|
|
The
goal of the program is to encourage families to develop vegetable and flower
gardens in their backyards and share the surplus with their less fortunate
neighbors.
It is a collaborative effort of Granny's Garden School, Turner Farm,
Gorman Farm and Grailville and is being sponsored by Marvin's Organic Gardens,
Blooms and Berries Farm Market, Natorp's and Home
Depot.
We are preparing for 100 families to participate this spring. For a
$25
registration fee, each family will receive
a package for starting a backyard flower and
vegetable garden that includes: |
|
-
a collection of
more than 20 varieties of
easy to grow flower and vegetable seeds.
-
free gardening workshops offered
by
Marvin's
Organic Gardens at
various locations.
-
a coupon for one each, tomato, pepper and basil plant from
Blooms and Berries.
-
a coupon for three (3-4") potted vegetable, herb or
flowering plants from Natorp's.
-
20 - five-gallon buckets full of compost
and a bucket to haul it in. (10 buckets full can be picked from any
collaborating organization (except Turner Farm).
Marvin's
Organic Gardens is providing an additional cubic
yard to be picked up at their location.

You will
receive way more than enough seeds to plant a 3' x 10' garden.
However, if you plan to have enough of a vegetable i.e. green beans for
canning, you will need more seeds and more space. Our goal is to
provide you with a variety of seeds. All of the flower seeds and
some of the vegetable seeds are surplus seeds that have been donated by
various seed companies for use in the Granny's Garden School program. We
are not selling the seeds, plants, compost or workshops. They are
provided free when you register for the program. |
