The day before school starts the 1st and 2nd grade students come to school with their parents to meet their teachers and learn where their rooms are located. That day volunteers go into the gardens early in the morning to pick nearly 2,000 flowers. When the children arrive later in the day we are waiting outside of the schools with flowers in hand.  Each child is given a flower to give to his teacher.  We pick extras so we can share with siblings as well.

Last fall, Police Chief  Tim Sabransky and council member Mark Fitzgerald  joined other volunteers to help pass out the flowers.

It's a great job for young people seeking community service opportunities.
