We are officially expanding
the program to the Loveland Early Childhood
Center (LECC).
We have had a small program here for kindergarten students for a
few years now. The district is growing and six first grade
classes have been moved to LECC. The teachers want to have their
own gardens as they did before. The students on the left are using magnifying
classes to observe worms and other insects in compost.
A fourth grade class came up from the
elementary school to help plant perennials for the younger
children.
We count on parent
volunteers to do the extra maintenance that cannot be completed
by the younger students that use these gardens. These
mom's bring younger siblings with them to help while their older
children are in school. This was an early spring day. The
students are preparing their bed so they can plant potatoes.
The potatoes are harvested in the fall
