Some  of the produce grown in our gardens is served in the cafeteria. Carolyn Morgan (far left), the head cook at the primary and elementary schools and her staff goes out of their way to prepare and serve the fresh produce.

Carol Marples, the district's director of food service is a great advocate for serving tasty and nutritious lunches.

In October 2005, we hosted a vegetarian harvest lunch where most of the produce served in both the primary and elementary school cafeterias (about  1,400 students) was harvested from the gardens by the students.

Volunteers prepared dozens of bouquets so we had one or two on every table. All of the tables were covered with table cloths and in both cafeterias classical music was playing over the sound system.  We had many parents and other special guests including, our superintendent, Dr. Boys who came to have lunch with his daughter. Mr. Brookes, the elementary school principal talks about what a special day it was.

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."  Robert Louis Stevenson
