This is a series of books for children written and illustrated by two of our fourth grade classes about life in a school garden.  The stories are written from the perspective of the insects, plants and animals that live in the gardens.  Along the way, a cast of characters that include a few humans will emerge.   We will use the gardens to tell stories that touch a wide range of topics across the curriculum.  I.e. diversity - Everyone loves the butterfly and lady bugs, but the slimy slug, though not as pretty, is just as important.

We have a publisher.  Robert and Elizabeth Murphy started their own non profit publishing company some years ago,  Dos Madres Press .  He is a poet and she is painter. The focus of the publishing company has been on literary works but they now want to branch out.  They have been involved in the gardens - pick a bouquet club for a number of years and are very familiar with the program.  They are  working with us to develop and publish the series.

The first book will be publised as an E-book.  The projected date for publication is May, 2009.
