Resources for Using the Gardens and Nature Trail as Teaching Tools

About our lesson guides

Our lesson guides are much more than a collection of lesson plans.  Each lesson is a complete guide for the garden coordinator who is leading the students in the garden or on the nature trail.  In addition to the actual lesson, each guide includes background information to inform the leader and enhance the lesson, a supply/preparation list, associated worksheets and when appropriate a flyer to send home to parents.

Credit goes to Jody Maher for the development of the lesson guides and calendar.  She has a passion for learning that shows in everything she does.  The lesson guides continue to evolve, and Jody appreciates feedback from teachers and volunteers who use them.  She is always looking for new ways to enhance the learning opportunity of each outdoor experience.  Jody joined the program as a parent volunteer in 2002.  She is now our Education Director.
