Basic Training
  1. Complete and submit your volunteer application form.

  2. Class Garden Coordinator Job Description

  3. Read the Volunteer Manual.

  4. Read the following: 

    How to dress for the garden - Why wear the Granny apron and other things you need to know.
    Garden Etiquette - Garden rules to explain to students
    Teaching Tips - Simple techniques for keeping the kids focused
    Mulch and compost - Find out what they are and how we use them 
    Tools  - Available tools, where they are, and how to use them 

  5. Use this checklist to communicate with your teacher about getting started.

  6. Use this checklist for your preparing to take your class out to the gardens.

  7. Let us know how it went by completing an activity report in the barn or sending an email

  8. For advance planning refer to the schedule to see what is coming up for your grade level and review the lesson on the Activities/Lessons page.  You'll receive weekly emails about what is coming up and what is happening in the gardens.  See the Coordinator page for the current newsletter.

  9. Attend training whenever possible. You will be notified of training opportunities through the garden newsletter
