- The Granny’s Garden School program at Loveland has set
the standard for merging school gardens with the classroom. We turned the
school grounds into teaching gardens where we provide plant based
environmental education to Loveland's 1,700 K-4th grade students. We use the
process of growing flowers and vegetables to teach across the curriculum.
Our produce is enjoyed by the students as they work in the gardens and is
served in the cafeteria. Though based on school grounds we are a
separate 501 (c) (3) non-profit. We are not funded by the school district
and provide our services free of charge.

- The Schoolyard Nature Network is the natural outgrowth of
the requests for information and training from the nearly
100 institutions that have come to tour and observe our methods. Through
the Network, we guide educators in the innovative and practical conversion
of school grounds into sustainable outdoor learning environments. . Our
goal is to strengthen the school garden movement by serving as a
guide for others to learn from our experience.
|
- The Family Garden Project encourages families to develop
vegetable and flower gardens in their backyards. As our students are
introduced to gardening at school, they are taking what they learn home and
getting their parents involved. There is a long list of good things that
can come out of families gardening at home.
